Dutch light

Toala Olivares uses the famous Dutch light to bring his photos to life and shows the city in a pure and authentic way. His photos are technically impressive. There is meaning in them too, as he connects Amsterdam's past and present. The personal text in the book gives an insight into his approach and makes the book all the more special.

2010 World Cup final

As you leaf through the book, you get the feeling you are looking over the photographer's shoulder. At times it is as if you are taking the photos yourself and Toala Olivares is drawing you into his story. The photo of the legendary Anne Frank tree, the Palace on the Dam from a helicopter, and certainly the legendary, if lost, final of the 2010 football World Cup on the Museumplein are just a few of the moments you can discover in this book. The photography feels like art, but it also tells the story of a city that is always on the move.
